US-based multi-factor authentication developer Fortress Identity has joined forces with Brazil’s electronic payment solution Muxi to incorporate compound biometric security into the latter’s payment solution, the company announced.
An innovative product in payment technology, muxiPAY was launched during the Finovate Fall 2019 event in New York City between September 23 and 26.
muxiPAY is a point-of-sale solution that allows customers to make purchases without having to take out a credit card because the AI engine developed by Fortress Identity will deploy facial recognition to validate the shopper at checkout and a certain passphrase will be analyzed with voice biometrics.
“For anyone who normally commands Alexa, Siri and other digital assistants to help in their daily lives, muxiPAY is the logical next step in the marketplace”, says Alessandro Chiarini, CEO of Fortress Identity. “Once the cashier checks out your items, and the checkout station identifies you, your account asks you to recite a word or phrase, and you’re done”.
According to muxiPAY Chief Product Officer, Pedro Brasil, “Working with Fortress Identity has greatly accelerated our development of this innovative point-of-sale solution. Their comprehensive package of biometric authentication tools enabled muxiPAY to design the most futuristic and seamless omnichannel – in-store and online – payment experience out there in the marketplace today”.
The integration of compound biometrics, in this case facial and voice recognition, will deliver advanced security to “card non present” (CNP), the company says, compared to “card present” verification methods, such as signatures, PINS, and Q-cards.
Earlier this year, Fortress Identity announced a strategic partnership with Visa to collaborate on protecting Visa cardholders in Latin America and the Caribbean with optional biometric solutions for every point of interaction, including online sales.
