During the ANPEI Innovation Conference 2024, held on August 21 and 22, Natura announced a strategic partnership with Bioverse for an innovative forest mapping project in the Amazon, utilizing drones from Xmobots, the world’s sixth-largest drone company.<\/p>

Xmobots, known for its expertise in high-tech drones, presented the Nauru 500C, which will be the primary tool used by Bioverse for forest data collection.<\/p>

Artur Lioni, Environmental Project Coordinator at Xmobots, emphasized the importance of this technology:<\/p>

“We go into the field, conduct drone flights, and select the best camera and lens to ensure the most accurate species identification possible.”<\/p>

Bioverse, which acquired the Nauru 500C, will use the drone to identify, through artificial intelligence, key species used by Natura in cosmetics production.
Francisco D\u2019Elia, Executive Director of Bioverse, highlighted the significance of this nearly two-year partnership with Xmobots:<\/p>

“We have opened a new frontier in non-timber forest inventory, focusing on promoting the bioeconomy and structuring productive chains.”<\/p>

Support for Innovation and Sustainability<\/strong><\/h3>

The project also received financial support from FINEP. Fernanda Stiebler, Superintendent of Decentralized Operations at FINEP, praised the collaboration between the companies:<\/p>

“Innovation happens when smaller companies, which have the technology, partner with larger companies, which have the ability to test and scale.”

Amazon Preservation at an Exponential Scale<\/strong><\/h3>

R\u00f4mulo Zamberlan, Head of Advanced Research at Natura, emphasized the impact of this partnership on Amazon preservation and sustainable development. He noted that, with drone technology, the forest inventory process, which previously took nine months, can now be completed in just one day.<\/p>

“We have accelerated the forest inventory process by 200 times,”<\/em> said Zamberlan, expressing optimism about the next steps in this collaboration.<\/p>

This collaboration marks a significant step in Amazon preservation and the advancement of a sustainable bioeconomy.
