UCB Power<\/strong>, a Brazilian manufacturer of energy storage systems, is finalizing negotiations with BID Invest, the private investment arm of the Inter-American Development Bank, to secure financing of US$ 170 million. This ten-year funding aims to expand the company’s operations at its facilities in Manaus (AM) and Extrema (MG).<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

According to George Fernandes, CEO of UCB Power, the purpose of this investment is to increase energy production to meet expected demand growth. Currently, the Manaus facilities produce 800 megawatts and the Extrema facilities 500 megawatts, totaling an annual output of 1.3 gigawatts. The funding will primarily be used to increase capital for new innovations in energy storage, including battery storage systems (BESS), enhancements in electric mobility, and automation in the LFP battery assembly line.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

UCB Power revenue already reaches about 1 billion reals annually, with projections to hit 1.3 billion by 2024. The company’s product line ranges from energy storage systems, supporting operations in remote locations and agricultural applications, to batteries for mobile devices and electric motorcycles.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

With a well-established presence in Asia and a new commercial operation launched in Marseille, France, UCB Power continues to expand its global influence. The company focuses on integrating sustainability into its operations, with projects that have already benefited about 200,000 people in the Legal Amazon and prevented the emission of more than 70,000 tons of CO2 in recent years.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
